Plans in Progress:
Tentative Plans for the Edmonton Prototype Leonard Cohen Night Event Sept. 21, 2002
Organizing a fun ritual for the whole world from Leonard Cohen's work! An annual event held the third Saturday in September.
We hope that a number of the individuals who attend the inaugural Edmonton event will be people from afar who go back and organize bigger better similar events in their own cities in 2003, 2004 and beyond. We intend for this year's event to be in part a sort of "musical revolutionary boot camp" training a revolutionary force to combat boredom in music and cluelessness about love around the world!
An intriguing idea. No artist has ever been honored in this way during his/her lifetime, and only Robert Burns has been honored in similar fashion after death. The initiative will help millions more people all over the world to learn about Cohen's work and way of thinking, and about Canadian culture. It is a very good thing to do in its own right. And it will bring attention to our other humanitarian and futurist activities among the general public which is exactly what we want to accomplish.
